How to take your measurements

You are not measuring alone.

Ten measurements, a tape and a second person — that is all it takes. Our atelier reviews every figure personally before the cloth is cut. If a measurement does not look right, we contact you.

Before you start

  1. Measure in pairs. A second person holds the tape — so it stays level.

  2. Undergarments only. Take off blouse or shirt first; women keep on the bra they will wear under the robe.

  3. Stand upright, breathe normally. The tape lies flat without pulling tight.

  4. Worn over a jacket? Note it in the measurement form — we add the ease.

The ten measurements

In the order of the measurement form — field by field. The fitting form shows each tape on the body; height, length and sleeve are shown on the full figure from the film.

Fitting form

  1. Figure from the front, vertical gold line from the floor to the top of the head

    Height

    Without shoes, back and heels against the wall, looking straight ahead. Lay a book flat on top of your head, mark the height and measure from the floor.

  2. Figure from behind, gold line from the nape down to the calf

    Robe Length

    Start at the lowest neck vertebra — the bone that stands out most when you bow your head. Let the tape hang straight down and read it at the desired hem height, classically at the calf.

  3. Upper body from the front, gold line horizontally around the chest

    Chest Circumference

    Horizontally around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades at the back. Arms relaxed, breathe normally.

  4. Upper body from the front, gold line horizontally around the fullest part of the stomach

    Stomach Circumference – fullest point

    formerly “Waist Circumference” in the form

    Horizontally around the fullest part of the stomach, usually at navel level or just below. Do not pull the stomach in; breathe out normally. The tape lies flat without cutting in.

  5. Shoulder, gold line from the base of the neck to the shoulder point

    Shoulder Width

    One side: from the base of the neck along the shoulder line to the shoulder point. Raise the arm sideways and a small hollow forms there.

  6. Back, horizontal gold line between the armpits

    Back Width

    Across the back at shoulder-blade height, horizontally from armpit to armpit. Enter the full width; arms relaxed.

  7. Upper body from the front, horizontal gold line between the armpits

    Front Chest Width

    Across the front above the bust, at the height of the front armpit creases, horizontally from armpit to armpit. Enter the full width.

  8. Side view, gold line from where the neck meets the shoulder to the bust point

    Bust Depth

    women only

    Wearing the bra you will wear under the robe: from where the neck meets the shoulder, straight down to the bust point on the same side. If the two sides differ, enter the larger figure.

  9. Head and neck, gold line around the base of the neck

    Collar Size

    Around the base of the neck, tape snug — no finger underneath. We add the allowance for shirt collar and movement. You may also note your shirt collar size in the notes field of the measurement form.

  10. Side view, gold line from the shoulder down the outside of the arm to the wrist

    Sleeve Length

    Arm hanging relaxed. From the outer shoulder point — where the shoulder seam sits — down the outside of the arm to the wrist bone.

Measured where you are

Our atelier at your side

Your robe is cut to your measure — and your measure is taken wherever you are. In our atelier in Landshut we also take your measurements in person, by appointment. Whenever possible, Yeşim Küçükay receives you herself.

For your coat, we take the key measurements anew after your order: it is worn over a suit or other clothing. Fit and length are assessed in a cotton toile.
