Royal Regalia, at 155 g/m², blends finest Merino wool with precious cashmere. Its lightweight, exceptionally fine weave creates an incomparably soft, luxurious feel, refined further by elegant cashmere fibres — a subtle, restrained sheen for connoisseurs of understated elegance, with remarkable durability and crease resistance.

The finest Merino wool regulates body temperature and manages moisture; cashmere, from the soft undercoat of the cashmere goat, adds softness, lightness and superior climate-regulating properties.

Thanks to its notably high silk content, it carries the most distinguished, luxurious sheen in our collection — subtle yet unmistakably richer than other wool fabrics, with an exceptionally fine weave and elegant drape.

Merino wool regulates temperature by absorbing and quickly releasing moisture; the silk adds lightness, extraordinary softness and the intense, elegant shimmer that defines this cloth.

Pure wool regulates body temperature by absorbing and quickly releasing moisture, and offers outstanding wrinkle resistance, shape retention and natural resistance to UV and dirt.

Pure wool of Super 170’s fineness — lightweight, breathable and refined, ideal for year-round wear.

Loro Piana · Tasmanian® Super 170’s is pure wool of Super 170’s fineness — fibres of about 15 microns — woven at 167–173 g/m² (250–260 g/m). Exceptionally fine, with a soft, refined hand.

The fine fibre lends a discreet, natural lustre. Wool regulates temperature and moisture — a cloth for every season.

Made-to-measure cashmere coats

The cloth for your coat.

For our house collection, we select cashmere from Holland & Sherry (Classic Overcoats & Topcoats) and Scabal (ZEUS): 100% cashmere, with a dense handle and a matte lustre. Available now in Light Camel and Charcoal (Holland & Sherry). Beige, Camel, Navy, Black and Bordeaux in Scabal cashmere, ZEUS bunch, 460 or 540 g, come in their own price tier — available now. On request, we also make your coat in vicuña or in cloth from Loro Piana.

The interior is yours to choose: 15 designs from our Fabric & Lining Card or a lining of your choice. Solid colours in pure silk (84 g/m²), paisley in viscose (78 g/m²), Mondo in acetate and viscose (80 g/m²). Body and sleeves are fully lined.

Before we cut the cashmere, we make your coat as a cotton toile. Only when fit, length and movement are right do we begin making it in your chosen cloth.

The Atelier

Master tailoring from Bavaria

Each robe and every coat are handcrafted in our Bavarian workshop using time-honoured techniques and precise craftsmanship. From hand-finished seams to a true made-to-measure fit, we tailor every robe to reflect your role and stature. For your coat, we first assess fit, length and movement in a cotton toile.

The material

From undercoat to cloth.

Cashmere is the undercoat of the cashmere goat. The goat lives on the high plateaus of Central Asia — in China and Inner Mongolia, in Mongolia, Iran and Afghanistan — and beneath its coarse outer hair grows a fine down that carries it through winter. In spring, as the animals shed their winter coat, the down is combed out: about 150 grams per goat each year.

A cashmere fibre measures 15 to 19 microns. For a coat it becomes a dense cloth of 460 to 560 grams per running metre: it falls quietly without weighing on the shoulders, and it is warmer than its weight suggests.

The houses behind the cloth

Since 1836 · Savile Row, London

Holland & Sherry began in London in 1836, when Stephen George Holland and Frederick Sherry traded woollen and silk cloth on Old Bond Street. In 1886 the house moved to Golden Square, then the heart of London’s cloth trade; of the merchants there, it is the one that remains. It has been on Savile Row since 1982, and since 1968 its cloth has travelled out from Peebles in the Scottish Borders. Its clients are tailoring houses and luxury brands around the world.

Since 1938 · Brussels · 12 Savile Row

Scabal began in Brussels in 1938, when Otto Hertz opened his cloth business there; the name stands for Société Commerciale Anglo Belgo Allemande et Luxembourgeoise. In 1946 the house devised the cloth bunch — the form in which tailors still choose their cloth. Scabal has been at No. 12 Savile Row since 1972 and has woven in its own mill in Huddersfield since 1973. It remains independent and family-owned.
